GETTING TO BOOM

How To Get There

So where is there? There is right HERE on the Boomland! It hugs the shores of an enchanting lake situated within close proximity to the historic town of Idanha-a-Nova (inland center of Portugal, near the city of Castelo Branco and the Spanish border).
It’s also about 260 km from Lisbon in Portugal and 360 km from Madrid in Spain (teleportable distance).
Simply pinpoint "Idanha-a-Nova" in Portugal on your map or GPS to make sure you’re on the right tracks. From there you will follow signs to the festival. Otherwise pinpoint "Senhora do Almortão sanctuary" (location of the Pre-Gate).

Boom Bus

You just know you’re in for a good time when you join this funky crowd… Safe, sustainable, comfy and convenient: hop on board our humble charter bus at either Lisbon or Madrid airports and get a ride to the festival and back.

Public Transport

FROM LISBOA AIRPORT

BUS

From the airport take the metro to Sete Rios bus station and from there take a bus to Castelo Branco (52 km away from Boomland). From Castelo Branco, you can take a bus to Idanha-a-Nova (operating on weekdays only). Once you’ve arrived at Idanha-a-Nova, you can either take a cab to Boomland or take the shuttle bus to the festival (see "Shuttle Bus").

TRAIN

Take the Metro to Gare do Oriente station, from there you can get the train to Castelo Branco.

FROM MADRID AIRPORT

BUS

From Madrid, you have a bus service that connects you to Lisbon. The Madrid Bus station (ESTACIÓN SUR) is at Av. Mendez Álvaro and you find it at the Mendez Álvaro Metro station.

One of the companies that run buses to Lisbon is Avanza Bus (www.avanzabus.com).

In Lisbon, from Sete Rios bus station take a bus to Castelo Branco. Please refer to the bus station website (www.rede-expressos.pt) for departure times, costs and further information.

From Castelo Branco, you can take a bus to Idanha-a-Nova (operating on weekdays only). Once you’ve arrived at Idanha-a-Nova, you can either take a cab to Boomland or take the shuttle bus to the festival (see "Shuttle Bus").

TRAIN

Make your way to Chamartin train station (Madrid) and take a train to Lisbon.

Step out of the train at Entroncamento and get the connection train to Castelo Branco.

FROM PORTO AIRPORT

TRAVEL BY METRO - BUS - CAB

Take the Metro until Trindade station.

At Trindade metro station, take the line A, or B, or C, or F – in direction of Estádio do Dragão, or Campanhã, or Fânzeres – and exit at Campanhã stop – Metro do Porto.

Go to Campanhã Bus Terminal, and take a Bus to Castelo Branco (52 km away from Boomland). From Castelo Branco take the Bus to Idanha-a-Nova. Know more.

Once at Idanha-a-Nova, you can either take a cab to Boomland or take the shuttle bus to the festival (see "Shuttle Bus").

TRAVEL BY SHUTTLE - BUS - CAB

From the airport take the shuttle “GetBus” (Mon. ~ Fri.) until Porto – Campanhã bus station.

From Terminal Intermodal de Campanhã Bus station, take a bus until Castelo Branco (52 km away from Boomland). From Castelo Branco take the bus to Idanha-a-Nova. Know more.

Once at Idanha-a-Nova, you can either take a cab to Boomland or take the shuttle bus to the festival (see "Shuttle Bus").

TRAVEL BY METRO - TRAIN

Take the Metro until Trindade station. At Trindade metro station, take the line A, or B; or C, or F in direction of Estádio do Dragão, or Campanhã, or Fânzeres and exit at Campanhã station – Metro do Porto. At Campanhã, get a train ticket until Castelo Branco (numbers of trains to catch and routes may differ). Know more.

Shuttles depart from the Castelo Branco Terminal Bus Station, "Terminal Rodoviário de Castelo Branco" in Portuguese.

By Car / Caravan

If you plan to va-va-voom to Boom with mates, then don’t forget to do your very own impersonation of Bohemian Rhapsody when you stop for a break. But try not to freak out the locals, as they deserve all the respect and good smiles.

So here’s how you get there:

FROM LISBON

Take the A1 motorway, heading North.
Exit at the A23, towards Torres Novas.
Continue in the direction of Castelo Branco along the A23 and exit at Lardosa/Idanha-a-Nova.
Follow the signs to Idanha-a-Nova, where you will reach a roundabout with signs to the ‘Pre-park’ and to ‘Boom Festival.’

FROM PORTO

Take the A1 motorway towards Lisbon, until you reach signs for the A25, towards Viseu.
Drive along the A25, take the exit to A23 in the direction to Covilhã and Castelo Branco.
Exit at Lardosa/Idanha-a-Nova.
Follow the signs to Idanha. Here you will reach a roundabout with signs to Boom Festival.

FROM MADRID

Take the A5 Motorway in the direction of Plasencia and Portugal.
Get the A1 towards Plasencia and follow the signs for the Ex-108 to Coria/Portugal.
Continue following the signs to Portugal.
As you enter the country, you will see signs to the town of Idanha-a-Nova.
When you get to the town, you will reach a roundabout with signs to Boom Festival.
